His love for cooking was first ignited by the extraordinary culinary skills of his grandmother, who could transform the simplest of ingredients into exquisite dishes. Despite the pressure from family and society to pursue a conventional career, Chef Ritabrata Biswas chose to follow his passion for the culinary arts. Faced with financial constraints and skepticism from those around him, he pushed through every obstacle with determination, driven by an unyielding desire to succeed.
Chef Ritabrata’s culinary journey began with his decision to enroll in culinary school, where his unrelenting focus and self-driven research laid the foundation for his exceptional career. His hard work and dedication quickly propelled him through the ranks, from a humble culinary student to a renowned chef. His rise through the kitchen was not just marked by skill, but also by humility, patience, and an eagerness to learn.
In 2020, Chef Ritabrata’s remarkable talent was acknowledged when he was named Times Nightlife Chef of the Year, a recognition of his creativity, dedication, and leadership in the culinary field. However, his true fulfillment comes not from the awards and accolades, but from his deep passion for mentoring the next generation of chefs. He believes in passing on the knowledge, skills, and insights that helped shape his own career, ensuring that future culinary professionals are equipped with the tools needed to succeed in an ever-evolving industry.
At Ambika Academy, Chef Ritabrata Biswas plays a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum and guiding students through their culinary education. Throughout his illustrious career, Chef Ritabrata Biswas has held several prestigious positions, including Executive Sous Chef at The Quorum, Mumbai, and Chef de Cuisine at the same establishment. He also served as Head Chef at Grace – Progressive Vegetarian, a restaurant known for its innovative approach to vegetarian cuisine. Earlier in his career, Chef Ritabrata honed his skills as Commis I at Qla and Commis III at Vivanta Hotels. His industrial training took place at ITC Sonar Bangla and The Park Hotel, Kolkata, both of which further refined his skills and culinary philosophy. As a student, he demonstrated his leadership abilities by serving as a Team Leader, laying the groundwork for the impactful career he would later build.
